Once you have created all of the pages that make up your website you will need to post or upload them to your web hosting account on a web server. Some HTML editors (such as Netscape, FrontPage, and Dreamweaver) have built in FTP utilities (File Transfer Protocol), which you will need to connect to the server over the Internet and transfer your files to your hosting account. Some web hosting accounts will include a browser-based administrative control panel you can use to grab files off your computer and post to your account. Remember: your website will not be viewable on the Internet until you put the files on a web server.
If you are using a basic text editor, or an HTML editor you will need to get an FTP utility to connect to your web server. The easier ones to use have a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and will allow you to configure and save your settings for your hosting account, or several accounts if you have more than one. If you are concerned about your account logon and password being intercepted in transit, then you can use secure FTP utilities, but they are usually DOS-based with a command line interface.
